Punta Thurwieser mountaineering experience

The ascent of Punta Thurwieser along the Normal route begins at Quinto Alpini Refuge (2877m), accessible from Valfurva. From the hut, the route follows the Zebrù Glacier, climbing snowy and icy slopes up to the steep snow couloir. Climbed the couloir the ascent continues along the Northeast ridge, involving mixed climbing (snow, ice, and rock) before reaching the summit.

If the snow couloir is not in good conditions, the itinerary continues on the glacier up to the Ortles Pass, from here take the obvious ridge of the Coni di Ghiaccio arriving at the Thurweiser Pass from where climbers take the final ridge up to the summit of Thurwieserspitze.

From the summit, the views are breathtaking: you can admire Gran Zebrù, Monte Ortles, Monte Cevedale, and the entire Ortles-Cevedale range. A fascinating and less frequented ascent, perfect for those looking for a technical climb in a wild and spectacular alpine setting!
