The Traverse of the 13 Peaks is one of the most spectacular and ambitious high-altitude traverses in the Alps, following the ridgeline of the Ortles-Cevedale Group. This alpine route crosses thirteen peaks above 3500 meters, navigating snowy ridges, glaciers, and mixed terrain, offering a complete and breathtaking mountaineering experience.

3-day Traverse of the 13 Peaks in the Ortles Cevedale group.
The Traverse of the 13 Peaks is an extraordinary challenge, offering unparalleled views over the Rhaetian Alps and a journey through the history of mountaineering and the battlefields of World War I. A demanding mountaineering adventure for experienced climbers, combining endurance, technique, and passion for the mountains!

The itinerary starts from Rifugio Casati reachable from Ghiacciaio dei Forni Refuge in Valfuva (2178 m) in about 3 hours and follows the crest connecting the following thirteen peaks:

Monte Rosole - 3531 m
Palon de la Mare - 3703 m
Monte Vioz 3645 - m
Punta Taviela - 3612 m
Cime di Pejo - 3549 m
Rocca S.Caterina - 3529 m
Punta Cadini - 3529 m
Monte Giumella - 3596 m
Punta S.Matteo - 3678 m
Cima Dosegù - 3560 m
Punta Pedranzini - 3599 m
Pizzo Tresero - 3594 m

The traverse is done in 3 days, with 2 overnight stays at the Casati Refuge and the Mantova Refuge at Vioz. It is also possible to spend the night in a bivouac.
The itinerary is circular and can be done in both directions.
The traverse is 17 km long and remains constantly above 3300 metres of altitude, with a difference in altitude of 4000 metres.
The difficulties are not excessive (maximum inclination 45° and a passage of IV- on rock equipped with chains), but a good mountaineering experience is necessary.
