Corno di Cavento mountaineering ascent

The ascent of Corno di Cavento from Carè Alto Refuge is a historically rich and fascinating alpine adventure, perfect for those seeking a diverse and panoramic climb, with extraordinary views of the Adamello Group and surrounding peaks.

This itinerary is of extreme historical importance, it was the scene of bloody battles and heroic deeds by Austrian and Italian soldiers. Along the route, many remnants of wartime history can be found. Near the summit there are war tunnels in good condition that can be visited.

Day 01
The starting point of the route can be from Rifugio Carè Alto "Dante Ongari" (2459 m), accessible from Val di Borzago in about 4 hours and 1200 meters elevation gain.
Dinner and overnight stay at the hut.

Day 02
The trail ascends towards the Niscli saddle and the Vedretta di Lares glacier, crossing moraines and snowfields.
The route continues over the glacier, reaching the base of Corno di Cavento.
The final section follows a rocky ridge with some exposed passages, leading to the summit at 3402 m.
The view from the cross of the summit is breathtaking!
